Celem Polskiego Towarzystwa Probiotycznego i Prebiotycznego
jest wspieranie działań naukowych i zawodowych związanych z badaniami i wdrożeniami probiotyków i prebiotyków, a oznacza to:

1. Promomowanie badań nad probiotykami i prebiotykami,
2. Opiniowanie produktów probiotycznych i prebiotycznych,
3. Opracowywanie materiałów do kształcenia z zakresu badań i wdrożeń probiotyków i prebiotyków,
4. Stworzenie komunikacji pomiędzy osobami zajmującymi się problematyką probiotyków i prebiotyków w celu wymiany wiedzy i doświadczeń,
5. Rozwijanie zainteresowań naukowych, socjalnych i ekonomicznych członków w zakresie możliwości Towarzystwa,
6. Popularyzacja wiedzy społeczeństwa na temat probiotyków i prebiotyków, w szczególności ich specyfiki, działania, znaczenia dla zdrowia,
7. Informowanie organów państwowych i samorządowych o problemach związanych z probiotykami i prebiotykami,
8. Opiniowanie zamierzeń i przedsięwzięć publicznych i prywatnych związanych z probiotykiami lub prebiotykami.



Cele określone powyżej Towarzystwo realizuje poprzez:

1. Inicjowanie, wspieranie i prowadzenie badań naukowych w zakresie probiotyków i prebiotyków,
2. Organizację okresowych spotkań członków Towarzystwa,
3. Koordynowanie i współdziałanie w organizowaniu kursów naukowo-szkoleniowych i innych form kształcenia podyplomowego,
4. Ustalanie wymogów i zasad dotyczących jakości i bezpieczeństwa probiotyków i prebiotyków,
5. Wdrażanie rozwiązań i promocję produktów zawierających probiotyki i prebiotyki,
6. Promocja probiotyków i prebiotyków,
7. Współpraca z pokrewnymi organizacjami narodowymi i międzynarodowymi.
